The Alive by the Bay Street Fair is back in Bay Shore

With summer into its first full week, what better way to celebrate than with a street fair. The Alive by the Bay Street Fair is back in Bay Shore, and it was the place to be this Tuesday night. It was the perfect summer evening to be out and about around town.

Since 2020, there haven't been many in-person events, but it's pretty incredible how people got right back into the groove of things as a large crowd turned out on this summer evening to mix and mingle and dance. There were tables set up in front of the many restaurants and bars that line Main Street serving up their specialties. There was live music, too. A rock band played at Coastal Kitchen Daquiri Bar, and a Salsa Band performed in front of The Boulton Center, which remains closed until further notice. I'll be sure to let you know when it opens its doors again.

It's not clear when the first street fair began, but we are certain that it celebrates the character of a neighborhood. Bay Shore's first street fair of the summer featured jewelry, candles, and soaps from local artisans, as well as paintings, pottery, and ice cream, rides, and a petting zoo for the kids. There was something for just about everyone. I ran into some friends that I haven't seen in a while and some I see in some of my favorite places in town. It felt good to be part of the neighborhood again. After the fair, I headed down to the beach where there was a New Moon Drumming Circle. I caught a gorgeous sunset on my way home. What other great place to celebrate the first week of summer but on the sand.

There will be more Alive by the Bay Street Fairs this summer including July 12, July 26, and August 16. I hope to see you around town!

Peace and Love,

Skylark

At 60 and beyond, it's great to get out and celebrate this sumptuous season of summer. It doesn't last long, but since the sun sets late, it can feel like it does.
