President Biden Delivered a Poignant Speech on Gun Control

President Biden delivered a poignant speech Thursday night as he addressed gun control and mental health. This is a double-edge sword. Congress and the Senate need to act now, and so do we. Friday is National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

I have lost two siblings tragically, though not to gun fire. Their loss is profound even after many years since their untimely passing. Parents, siblings, relatives, and friends should never lose their loved ones to a gun, especially young children. A piece of you dies with them. A whole in your heart remains forever. What do we do now? We stay in the game.

The mid-elections are coming up this November so it might be a good time to start to learn about the people who are running and what they stand for. Every vote counts. Young people tend to have the most influence because they are energetic, passionate, and eager to make change. But at 60 and beyond, it's important to vote, too. Don't think you're too old to influence fundamental transformation. After all, we've got some wisdom and knowledge under our belt. We still matter. We are the ones who influence our youth through our experiences. By the time you reach this age, you've been witness to several presidents, new laws, economic ups and downs, boom times, wall street crashes, recessions, 9/11, and cultural and societal trends. From disco to punk, soul to funk, rock to rap, and jazz to hip hop, we know quite a bit about change.

Like an ocean that ebbs and flows, we must too. We must stay in the game and never give up that ship!

Peace and Love,

Skylark
