Have you got the winter blues? If you're like most of us, you're probably craving to get out of the house and do something fun. My pick is the winter concert series happening at the Carriage House on the grounds of the majestic Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park. This palatial 691-acre property located in the hamlet of Great River includes an arboretum designed by Frederick Law Olmsted for William Bayard Cutting in 1886, as well as a mansion designed by Charles C. Haight. Today, Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park is one of the last remaining estates on the South Shore of Long Island. It has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1973 as a historic district. No matter the time of year, this sprawling gem is a wonderful place to spend time, and the concert series is a special way to spend it.
The Carriage house is a stately wooden building, and the perfect place to hear music. It's intimate setting lends itself to excellent acoustics for this classical winter music series. From piano to lute, and other fine instrumentation in between, you'll enjoy escaping the cold in this warm and inviting historic space.
All concerts start at 1:00pm. The doors open at 12:15pm for you to sign in, and all attendees must be signed in prior to seating. Seating is on a first come, first served basis and begins at 12:45pm. All concerts are FREE. A $5 suggested donation is welcome. Bayard Cutting Arboretum State Park is located at 440 Montauk Hwy, Great River, NY 11739.
Don't miss this incredible line-up and please remember to wear your mask.
