Summer is on the rise in Bay Shore! With temperatures breaking 90 degrees on Tuesday, it felt more like mid-July. This past weekend was beautiful as well, and the beaches on Long Island were packed. Flowers are blooming everywhere, and the days are getting longer. Take time to savor every moment.
I rise early each morning around 5:30am. It's still dark and you an hear the birds chirping. This is sacred time as the noises of every-day life haven't begun yet. As I begin my day, the sound of coffee perking is comforting. I roast a fresh pot each morning the old-fashioned way. It takes about 10 minutes and it's worth every one of them as the house fills with the aroma of java. This is my morning ritual for all seasons.
Summer is something most of us look forward to, and there's so much to do on Long Island. From beaches, to concerts, to amusement parks, to gardens and herb farms, there's something for everyone at every age. At 60 and beyond, we're spending more time doing things that are easier on us - mind, body, and soul. Dinners seem more enjoyable in summer, especially eating in the open air. In Italian, they call it al fresco. Bay Shore has a variety of restaurants to entice your palate. From seafood to steak, and sushi to spaghetti, you can pick your favorite cuisine. Take some time this summer to visit our quaint town by the sea. You can even hop a ferry to Fire Island to soak in the sun. Don't forget the sunscreen.
Peace and Love,
