Working for the Weekend

Everybody's working for the weekend. That reminds me of a song by Loverboy, Working for the Weekend, that was a big hit for the band in 1981 from their second studio album, Get Lucky. I remember singing the song out loud as I drove to the Long Island Railroad station in the morning. I commuted into the city for a few years from Bay Shore before moving in later that same year.

If you're over 60 and still working, then you know the value of the weekend. And if you're retired, you still know the value of the weekend. Either way, the weekend is sacred. It's when family and friends get together to dine out, see a concert, take a drive, or hit the beach. This weekend is supposed to be in the high 80's. It might even hit 90 degrees! Bay Shore is home to the Fire Island ferries just at the foot of Maple Avenue. Schedules will ramp up Memorial Day weekend, but you can still hop a boat anytime. Be sure to check the schedules at www.fireislandferries.com. Robert Moses is another fantastic destination. With pristine beaches, both of these local stretches of sand and sea are very special and worth visiting over and over again.

No matter what's in store for you this weekend, make sure to take some time to relax and soak in the sun. It took a long time for the weather to warm up, but it finally has. If you're like me, I'm working for the weekend.

Everyone's watching to see what you will do
Everyone's looking at you, oh
Everyone's wondering will you come out tonight
Everyone's trying to get it right, get it right
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance
Everybody's going off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
You want a piece of my heart?
You better start from the start
You want to be in the show?
C'mon baby, let's go
Everyone's looking to see if it was you
Everyone wants you to come through
Everyone's hoping it'll all work out
Everyone's waiting to hold you out
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a new romance, hey yeah
Everybody's going off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
You want a piece of my heart?
You better start from the start
You want to be in the show?
C'mon baby, let's go
Hey!
You want a piece of my heart?
You better start from the start
You want to be in the show?
C'mon baby, let's go
You want a piece of my heart?
You better start from the start
You want to be in the show?
C'mon baby, let's go
