PSEG Long Island Powers Back After a Rogue Storm Overnight Monday

Image

Lights! Camera! Action! We usually hear this on a movie set, but thousands of Long Islanders were happy to get their power back so quickly from Monday night's overnight storm.

Around 2:00am, I was awakened to a dark home and a text from PSEG LI saying that they were working on my complex. My mind immediately went to the groceries I just purchased earlier that evening and the packed refrigerator that was now not working. Dread came over me. Was I dreaming or having a nightmare? As I got out of bed and walked into the kitchen, I could hear the wind roar and the trees sway as the rain pelted against my windows. I looked out into the dark night across the lawn to my brother's building, and the entire complex was black. I thought I was in for a long night. About ten minutes passed and then suddenly, the lights came on. Just like that. I could hear the motor to my refrigerator start up as I breathed a big sigh of relief. Then a second text came from PSEG LI saying that power was resumed to my building. I stayed up a little while longer to make sure nothing else was going to happen and prayed. I didn't want to call my brother and startle him in the middle of the night, so I assumed he was alright since my phone didn't ring. I know he would have called me if he was scared. I took another look out and saw his building was lit up, too. I eventually crawled back into bed and fell asleep on my new pillow I bought with my groceries. I slept like a baby.

Thank you, PSEG LI for powering back after this scary rogue storm. We didn't need Lights! Camera! Action! We just needed lights.

Peace and Love,
