A Spectacular Sky Show over Bay Shore

The night sky was filled with wonder on a chilly Tuesday evening in Bay Shore. The Waxing Crescent Moon was on full display as it set in the western sky. Driving along Montauk Highway, the Moon could be seen from all angles as the road twisted and turned. At 7 percent illumination, you could see the dark side.

This week, the night sky has been absolutely awesome. Monday night's sunset was blood orange and the most spectacular sunset this winter so far. You could see traffic slow down as drivers gazed out at this natural phenomenon. Did you ever wonder what makes some sunsets so brilliant? The quality of the air that sunlight has to pass through has an effect on the color of sunsets. It's on nights like this that it feels all is right with the world. Go west!

Peace and Love,
