SKYLARK'S ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
We took a ride to Robert Moses Field 5 Tuesday night. The air was mild. I had to see the ocean after the nor'easter that battered the shoreline of Long Island. I was surprised to see how good the beach looked. There was a tidal pool that we walked through. The water was warm. The sand washed away to form a large sandbar that stood about a foot high. It was good to see the beach had survived.
I feel like it was just summer. In a few short weeks, the light changes and sun sets earlier. I always resist the change from summer to fall. The nor'easter reminded me that no matter how I feel, the seasons must change. Tis' Autumn.
Even nature has resistance with the change of seasons. It seems as though it doesn't want to let go of summer either while preparing for the next season. A nor'easter will show you that. It takes a while, but I'm getting ready for fall. I bought more candles, and I cut some fading hydrangeas for my table. They always have such beautiful colors at the end of their peak bloom.
Embracing the current season can bring such a positive energy to our lives. It's a good time to check in with our self and decide what we want to take with us into the next season and what we want to leave behind. Change is constant. That's what makes life so interesting. When we resist change, we can get stuck. Yuck. That's not a good place to be.
In this new season of autumn, try to open up your mind a bit to allow something new to find its way into your life. There's always more to discover, to learn, and to embrace. Autumn is a good time to make an about face.
If the beaches can survive the turbulence of life, then so can we.

SKYLARK'S PICK OF THE WEEK
My pick of the week is the Brightwaters and Beyond Film Festival. It got cancelled last weekend due to the storm. It's this Saturday, October 3 at 5:00pm. It's free. I'm excited to see these short films, both from local filmmakers and beyond.
