A Hero's Parade Blasted Its Way Through Bay Shore

A hero's parade blasted its way through Bay Shore this week as EMS Vehicles and Fire Trucks blared their horns as they drove along Main Street. Stunned drivers pulled over, and pedestrians stopped in their tracks. I got caught in the intersection which gave me the perfect vantage point to capture the moment. People came rushing out of stores and nearby apartment buildings snapping pictures and taking videos of the jubilation. Firemen held on with one hand as they waived to enthralled on-lookers with the other, and some could be seen sitting on top of their trucks. Wreaths and the American flag adorned front grills with utility lights flashing as this surprise procession thrilled everyone.

The Hero's Parade has become a tradition this time of year around Bay Shore. It evokes emotions that are filled with gratitude and pride. Where would we be without these brave men and women who sacrifice their time to serve our community. They truly are our heroes, and they deserve our praise now and throughout the year. It was as if they were letting us know that they are here for us.
