Be an Ambassador of Love and Peace this Thanksgiving with Friends and Family
As we head into the week of Thanksgiving, being an ambassador of love and peace can make a noticeable difference as we come together after a long time of being apart.
Thanksgiving commemorates a harvest festival celebrated by the Pilgrims in 1621 in the United States. It is a national holiday that is also celebrated in Canada, Grenada, Saint Lucia, and Liberia. It began as a day of giving thanks and sacrifice for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Similarly named festival holidays also occur in Germany and Japan. Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has long been celebrated as a secular holiday as well.
The tradition of Thanksgiving has stood the test of time. It remains a much-anticipated day when we gather with friends and family to share a traditional meal and give thanks for the bounty of our lives. 2020 was tremendously challenging, and we did not spend a lot of time with each other. It showed us that we long for peace and how essential love is. It also showed us how much we need each other. This year, spread love and peace wherever you go. Treat everyone with kindness. Hug someone a little tighter. Choose your words wisely because they matter. Say I love you. A sense of humor goes a long way, and so does a smile, so be of good cheer. Tell your host how happy you are to be together, and thank them for inviting you. Share memories of Thanksgivings past as you create new ones. Be an ambassador of love and peace this Thanksgiving and make the tradition of this sacred day more memorable for everyone. We missed each other.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Love and Peace,
Skylark
