SKYLARK'S ARTICLE OF THE WEEK
There are a lot of flowering trees and plants on the property where I live. I love cuttings for the home.
As I stepped outside today, I noticed a rhododendron about to bloom. I cut a stem with a robust bud on it and put it in a vase. By evening, it began to open up. It's quite something to observe as the beautiful pedals reveal themselves. There is also a large tree on our property that has the most amazing flower. It looks like small orchids gathered together. I took a cutting of that, too. April showers bring May flowers.

I live in an apartment on the ground floor. It feels like a cottage. We have easy access to our stoop and grounds. I love sitting on my stoop. I've always enjoyed the simplicity of this. Some things never change. Here I am at age 17 with my sister, Jen. The years have passed, but not the pleasure of a stoop.

Many years ago, I planted a garden where I live. Some flowers no longer bloom, while other surprises appear. The birds do that. They are great pollinators. The grounds are filled with beautiful bushes and trees that bear flowers. The tactile experience of cutting flowers and creating an arrangement is transcending. I look forward to Spring for this reason.
I also have flowers on my windowsills inside and outside my home. I particularly love geraniums. I purchase them every year. But I have two plants from a couple of years ago that I keep inside. They continue to bloom. Nature is filled with wonder.

If you have a plot of land that you can plant flowers on, do it. It's not as hard as you think. Perennials are easy. The just require water and good soil. You will get so much more than you expected from a garden that keeps on giving.
Peace and Love,
Skylark
At 60 and Beyond, gardening is not only good for your body, it's good for your soul, too. There are surprises you'll find every year as well.

SKYLARK'S SONG OF THE WEEK
LYRICS
'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars
I'm gonna give you my heart
'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars
'Cause you light up the path
I don't care, go on and tear me apart
I don't care if you do, ooh
'Cause in a sky, 'cause in a sky full of stars
I think I saw you
'Cause you're a sky, 'cause you're a sky full of stars
I wanna die in your arms
'Cause you get lighter the more it gets dark
I'm gonna give you my heart
I don't care, go on and tear me apart
I don't care if you do, ooh
'Cause in a sky, 'cause in a sky full of stars
I think I see you
I think I see you
'Cause you're a sky, you're a sky full of stars
Such a heavenly view
You're such a heavenly view

MY BRAND - SKYLARK LIVE
I created my brand, Skylark Live, when I turned 60 years old and noticed a profound shift in this age. I wanted to talk about it and share what I was experiencing with the hope of helping other women as well. My brand consists of a weekly newsletter and a monthly vlog designed to motivate and inspire women over 60 to thrive in mature ageing through knowledge and self-awareness. I am open to conducting in-person conversations called The Skylark Sessions. These can be held in someone’s home or at a local library or senior center. To be continued.
Skylark Live Weekly Newsletter - My weekly newsletter, 60 and Beyond with Skylark - Living Life Inside and Outside the Home, features articles about human interest, nature, general observations, inspiration, goals, motivation, places I've been to, and ideas I want to explore. I'm open to ideas of what to write about, so let me know. I represent Bay Shore and towns beyond. There is also a calendar of events.
