SKYLARK'S ARTICLE OF THE WEEK - BENVENUTO AUTUNNO

Benvenuto Autunno. Welcome Autumn. No matter how you say it, Autumn has arrived. The temperatures are dropping a bit, but this week has been beautiful. We've had an Indian Summer. After a severe bout of vertigo that lingered all week, I was able to finally go to the beach over the past weekend. It's my safe haven. My sanctuary. My healing.

It has been a challenging week. When you're a caregiver, and you get sick, you feel helpless. But thank God, I am resilient. We can bounce back faster than we think, and our attitude plays a significant role in how we get better. I am grateful to be back to myself. At least for now.

Finding the right doctor can be challenging. I think it's best to shop around and not get stuck with the same routine and rut of doctors that you've grown too comfortable with. Some are good and some are in practice too long. It takes time and diligence to test out the waters, but it could be a matter of your good health if you don't.

Like any other profession, doctors can get burned out and rely on old diagnosis. So, I took matters into my own hands and asked my GP for his advice for a good neurologist. My episodes of vertigo were becoming more frequent with even more acute symptoms, so instead of accepting that it's "just vertigo", I felt perhaps there was another angle to approach. My new neurologist is thinking perhaps I'm experiencing a type of migraine. These are migraines that don't exhibit pain but do show other symptoms like vision changes, sensitivity to light, and dizziness that can become full-blown vertigo. It's awful.

These can be sobering years. I chose to write about 60 and beyond because I knew I was going to be facing different challenges as I aged. And here we are. By now, we've lost friends, and some are getting sick. Weren't we just in our 40's? Time goes fast. Live purposefully.

As we reach the age of 60, our bodies undergo a series of changes that can impact our health and well-being. These changes are worth listing again in case you missed them in another recent newsletter:

We can also develop gastro issues as we age. I saw a video on Facebook from Marissa Tomei and decided to watch it. Her brand is Terra Mare and her product for gut health is called Morning Restore. I'm not an easy sell, but this product actually spoke to me, so I bought it. It works. I'm not as bloated and feel better in general. I'm impressed.

Marissa Tomei turned a passion into a mission. She has always believed in using her voice to advocate for other women. Like me! Having spent many years navigating the often-dismissive world of women’s healthcare herself and later discovering the power of supplements, she founded Terra Mare to reshape the narrative around health by offering women the same science-based solutions that have helped her. She has developed a profound understanding for whole-body health and is now deeply committed to sharing her findings with others.

I'm glad I discovered this product. It's pretty amazing. So, if you have gut health issues, check it out at www.terramare.com. I guarantee you'll be happy you did.  Eating well is absolutely necessary for vitality, but sometimes we need a little help. I'm glad I found this supplement, and I hope you'll try it, too.

Staying active is essential to well-being. No couch potatoes allowed. I enjoy a good TV series as much as anyone, but staying engaged in the things we love, whatever they may be, is a sure way to enhance happiness. Don't we all want more of that now? I know I do. We can feel great at every stage of life.

Autumn is upon us. The shift of seasons is a natural phenomenon as the earth purses into a new position. This big blue planet ceases to amaze us with its gorgeous splendor of color, life, beauty, and wonder. Fall is a great time to get out and walk in the fresh air. Look around you. As we age, spending time in the natural world becomes more of what we crave and need, and it's always changing. Each day is brand new, and so are you.

Peace and Love,

Skylark

At 60 and Beyond, spending time in Mother nature is the best medicine.

SKYLARK'S HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

I took a ride after work on Tuesday to a wonderful nature preserve nearby called Seatuck Environmental Association at the Sully Mansion. This place always reveals something wonderful like this mother and her baby deer.

LYRICS

The falling leaves drift by the window

The autumn leaves of red and gold

I see your lips, the summer kisses

The sun-burned hands I used to hold

Since you went away the days grow long

And soon I'll hear old winter's song

But I miss you most of all my darling

When autumn leaves start to fall
