SKYLARK'S ARTICLE OF THE WEEK - OBSERVE. LEARN. GROW. LOVE.
When you discover yourself, you discover life. We are each the very essence of it, and we all have a unique role in the world. By observing, we learn, and by learning we grow, and when we grow, we love. Not just ourselves, but everything around us.
Observation is a critical skill that enhances our ability to interact with, learn from, and respond to the world around us. It fosters understanding, supports decision-making, and contributes to personal and professional growth.
In our world of opinions, observing might feel unnatural. Social media is instantaneous, and we can respond to something written by someone on the other side of the world in a matter of seconds. There's no observing, there's just reacting. It seems like this is the norm.
I love to talk. My vlog is my platform where I get to voice my opinion. I'm trying not to say as much on social media. It never ends well. Observing allows us to pause and reflect on what's right in front of us. As we observe, we slow down our thoughts. It's almost like a meditative state where there is non-thought. This is where we can learn about the world around us. It's where we process things that happen to us. It's where we find answers so we can grow in the awareness of our own responses to things.
There's so many talking heads, whether it's on social media or mainstream media. It all sounds like one long sentence and most times, I'm not sure what anyone is really saying. It's like one big projection of opinions without any real conclusion. This can leave the viewer confused and respond in a way that's not always nice. I think we can change how we process things and react to them.
When we observe something, our brain transfers a memory of it by re-encoding it among neurons in the opposite brain hemisphere. The brain processes visual input from the retina of the eye to the visual cortex. Over time, the brain smoothes visual input, averaging what we saw in the past 15 seconds. When observing natural sequences, the brain relies on predictions based on experiences and expectations. Our brain predicts the present based on past observations. I found this fascinating. It's as though we're observing the past and the present simultaneously.
The beach is a great place to observe life. There is a particular chemistry that's created when the air, sea, and sun come together. It's a natural elixir - a magical or medicinal potion. When we are in this state of being, solutions come. We learn about ourselves. We process things almost without trying. We find new perspective in silence. And as these things are at work, we become more open-minded and able to love without conditions. Observe. Learn. Grow. Love. That's amore.
Peace and Love,
Skylark
At 60 and Beyond, observing the world around us can be our best teacher.

"NEW" - SKYLARK'S FEATURE OF THE WEEK
March is Women's History Month. Celebrate the woman in you.
SKYLARK'S PICK OF THE WEEK
It's that time of year again when towns throughout Long Island have their annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and men in kilts march while blowing their bagpipes. This Saturday, it's Bay Shore's turn. The revelry begins at 2:00pm at Saxon Avenue and marches west along Montauk Highway to St. Patrick's Church at the corner of Clinton Avenue. There are plenty of bars along the way, so grab a beer or two. Kiss me, I'm Irish! Everyone's Irish on St. Patty's Day!
SKYLARK'S HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK
The highlight of the week for me has been seeing the moon and Venus set. It's not every night you get to see such a sky show. For a few nights this week, Venus has been looming in the night sky with the crescent moon not far behind. They are a pair of heavenly bodies dangling over the horizon. What a rare and amazing sight.
I did not take this photo. I am not sure who did, but I love it.
SKYLARK'S PRAYER OF THE WEEK
Dear God,
Please protect America now and forever. Amen.

SKYLARK'S SONG OF THE WEEK - WISH I DIDN'T MISS YOU by ANGIE STONE
Angie Stone passed away in a car accident this week. She is loved and missed. May she rest in peace for all eternity.
LYRICS
Oh, yeah, yeah
Ooh, oh, yeah
Ooh, oooh, ooh, hah
Same old story back again
She's not a lover, she's just a friend
I'm sick and tired for you to blame on me
Now you think it's funny
Now you wanna spend your money on girls
But you forgot when you were down
That I was around
Call my lover, hang up, call again
What in the world is happening
Listen in, but don't yell at me
Isn't it ironic, all you wanna do is smoke chronic
Boy, you forgot when you were down
Who was around
I can't eat, I can't sleep anymore
Waiting for love to walk through the door
I wish I didn't miss you anymore, anymore
Ooh, oooh, ooh, hah
Memories don't live like people do
I'm sick for ever believing you
Wish you'd bring back the man I knew
Was good to me, oh Lord
Every time you say you're coming
Boy, you disappoint me, honey
How well you forgot when you were down
And I was around
I can't eat (Oh, no, no), I can't sleep anymore
Waiting for love to walk through the door (Ah, ah, ah)
I wish I didn't miss you anymore (Anymore)
I can't eat, I can't sleep anymore
Waiting for love to walk through the door
I wish I didn't miss you anymore (Anymore)
One of these days, it's gonna happen to you
Missing a love like I'm missing you, babe yeah-yeah
One of these days, when your dreams come true
That's the one that's gonna do it to you
Oh-oh-oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah-yeah-yeah
I can't eat, I can't sleep anymore
Waiting for love to walk through the door
I wish I didn't miss you anymore
I can't eat, I can't sleep anymore
Waiting for love to walk through the door
I wish I didn't miss you anymore
I can't eat, I can't sleep anymore
Waiting for love to walk through the door
I wish I didn't miss you anymore

Weekly Newsletter - My weekly newsletter features articles about human interest, nature, general observations, happiness, dreams, inspiration, motivation, music, and ideas I want to explore. The topics are endless. I represent Bay Shore and the greater Town of Islip community. There is also a calendar of events.
