Is There Enough Passion in Your Life?

SKYLARK'S ARTICLE OF THE WEEK - IS THERE ENOUGH PASSION IN YOUR LIFE?

Passion. It drives us. It excites us. It motivates us. But is there enough passion in our lives at this age?

When I was younger, I had a lot of passion for sophisticated things like music, art, and fashion. I loved dating, traveling, eating at trendy restaurants, and starting a new job. I didn't have any ambivalence. I just went with my gut. I'm still passionate about most of these passions, but not so gutsy when it comes to dating. I'm in a long-term relationship now.

I recently subscribed to Vogue and Veranda magazines. Fashion and home decor. Old passions reimagined. I'm also passionate about gardening, cooking, and watching something spicy on Netflix. Thank God for Netflix.

Certain passions can wane with age, but passion is a key ingredient that drives us to pursue something. It puts a thrust in us that drives us to explore something new. If you have a passion for something, you have a very strong interest in it and like it very much. It means that you fancy something or you have a lot of enthusiasm for a particular thing.

When we hear the word passion, we may automatically think about romantic love, of which passion is certainly a part of. There are three main components of love: passion, intimacy, and commitment. Love relationships vary depending on the presence or absence of each of these components. Passion refers to the intense, physical attraction partners feel towards one another. Without passion, your relationship will most likely dwindle and eventually fade away.

Passion is like glue that holds relationships together. It's a powerful force and without it, most pursuits will lose their luster. Passion is way more than a fleeting interest. Passion is an intense, lasting enthusiasm for something. It's that feeling that makes your heart race, your eyes light up, and your energy levels soar.

Here are some signs that you might have a passion:

  • You feel a strong desire to dedicate time and effort to something
  • You feel a sense of joy and fulfillment when you engage in a particular activity
  • You would love to do something constantly

Some benefits of pursuing your passion include:

  • Increased happiness: Doing what you love can bring a sense of joy and fulfillment to your life
  • Stronger relationships: Sharing your passion with others can help build stronger relationships and connections

The holiday season is approaching. Halloween is coming. I'm passionate about theatre and costumes and look forward to putting on a mask and a cape soon. I like stepping out into the night on All Hallows' Eve. We call it Halloween. This is the evening before All Saint's Day, a Christian holiday that honors saints. The name comes from the Old English word hallowed, which means holy or sanctified. All Hallows' Eve is celebrated on October 31st and marks the start of Allhallowtide, a three-day season that ends with All Souls' Day. What will you dress up as this year? Be your passion in fashion.

Tanta passione.

Peace and Love,

Skylark

At 60 and Beyond, we can still be passionate about things that excite and inspire us.

SKYLARK'S HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK - THE NORTHERN LIGHTS MESMERIZE ON LONG ISLAND

A rare geomagnetic storm last week led to a mesmerizing display of aurora borealis, or Northern lights, in the night sky. This event created a lot of buzz among those who savored the spectacular experience. Some people posted their picture on social media like the image below. Unfortunately, I did not witness this extraordinary cosmic event. I guess I was lost in space.

Space weather forecasters had issued a severe, G4-level geomagnetic storm watch, only the second of that severity in 20 years, after a strong X-class solar flare and coronal mass ejection. This was set to push the aurora borealis from the northern states as far south as Alabama last Thursday and Friday evenings. I'm not sure when this will occur again, but I'll be sure not to miss it next time.

LYRICS

Anyone who ever held you
Would tell you the way I'm feeling
Anyone who ever wanted you
Would try to tell you what I feel inside
The only thing I ever wanted
Was the feeling that you ain't faking
The only one you ever thought about
Wait a minute, can't you see
That I Wanna fall from the stars
Straight into your arms
I, I feel you
I hope you comprehend
For the man who tried to hurt you
He's explaining the way I'm feeling
For all the jealousy I caused you
States the reason why I'm trying to hide
As for all the things you taught me
