What Did You Want to Become in Life? It's Never Too Late to Dream Big!

SKYLARK'S FEATURED ARTICLE OF THE WEEK - WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BECOME IN LIFE? IT'S NEVER TOO LATE TO DREAM BIG!

Do you ever find yourself looking back and reflecting on dreams that were not fulfilled? What did you want to become in life? It's never too late to dream big!

When I was 15, my mother took me to see Pippin on Broadway. I was awe struck. I turned to her and said, "That's it, Mom. That's what I want to be." I moved into the city a few years after graduating college, got a good job, and took dance lessons in the evening with the Alvin Ailey Dance Company. I loved it. I imagined myself on the Great White Way. 42nd Street! I was going to be a showgirl. I was in theatre as a teenager and always loved singing and dancing. I performed as a young girl for my family in our living room. I made costumes and wore high heels. I was well groomed for the stage, so I became a showgirl on my own stage of life.

Sometimes, life has other plans for us. We can have the best road map, and something will come to veer us off course. It happens to the very best planners. Dreams are a force that keep us going. They give us purpose and put wings under us. They drive us do better, to wonder about the possibilities in life, and to strive for something bigger than ourselves. But too often, dreams go unfulfilled.

An unfulfilled dream can leave us feeling that we missed our chance in life. It can even cause depression and low self-esteem. At 60 and beyond, we may feel that it's too late to pursue a big dream we’ve carried in our heart since youth, but it's never too late for things that are still within our reach. Maybe you've always dreamed of captaining your own sailboat or piloting your own plane. Most likely, finances may have held you back, or you just didn't believe in yourself enough. If we plan right and believe in ourselves more, our dreams can still be reachable. But we have to be more practical. Or do we. It's unlikely that we'll become an astronaut, but with technology and people like Elon Musk and Jeff Bazos, flying up into space is very possible. Once the price comes down.

Sogna in grande! Dream big!

Peace and Love,

Skylark

At 60 and Beyond, you may finally have the right stuff to fulfill those childhood dreams.

SKYLARK'S SONG OF THE WEEK - FLY ME TO THE MOON by Frank Sinatra

Fly me to the moon
Let me play among the stars
And let me see what spring is like on
A-Jupiter and Mars
In other words
Hold my hand
In other words
Baby, kiss me

Fill my heart with song
And let me sing forever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words
Please, be true
In other words
I love you

Fill my heart with song
Let me sing forever more
You are all I long for
All I worship and adore
In other words
Please, be true
In other words
In other words
I love
You
