The Bay Shore Historical Society will have our first meeting of 2024 on January 18th at 7 pm at the Bay Shore - Brightwaters Public Library.
Our guest speaker will be Mollie Sebor who will present her Girl Scout Gold Award Project “The Story of the Jewish Community of Islip Town”. The presentation will spotlight the lives of 9 influential individuals from the Town of Islip, all of whom happened to be Jewish. From business owners, and authors, to veterans and social rights activists.
Mollie Sebor is a graduate of Islip High School. With a passion for historical research and archival studies, she has written articles for regional and international publications. Mollie presents her programs and presentations to organizations all across Long Island including a presentation based on her Girl Scout Gold Award Project and an interactive play based on the original testimony from an 1887 murder trial from the Town of Islip. Mollie has worked as an intern with the town historian’s office.
The meeting is open to the public at no charge. Refreshments will be served. Masks are optional at the Bay Shore-Brightwaters Library as part of COVID-19 safety regulations. Learn more at: https://www.bayshorehistoricalsociety.org/programs-news
