60 and Beyond with Skylark - My First Monday of the Month Vlog- Grounding and Earthing

Welcome to Skylark Live Town News and my first Monday of the month article featuring my vlog, 60 and Beyond with Skylark. Each month, I present a unique topic that I feel is relevant to the 60 and beyond age group. My brand, Skylark Live, is a great way for me to express myself while inspiring and motivating others to go from striving to thriving into older age by setting goals and aging gracefully through knowledge and self-awareness.

Tonight, I'm going to talk about Grounding and Earthing. This therapeutic technique involves doing activities that "ground" or electrically reconnect us to the earth. This practice relies on earthing science and grounding physics to explain how electrical charges from the earth can have positive effects on your body. Grounding and earthing is easy and accessible to all. Walking barefoot, lying on the ground, submerging yourself in water, and walking in the woods are all forms of grounding and earthing. As the cooler weather starts to move in, you can ground and earth right in the privacy of your own home. Maybe you like the way the coolness of a tile floor feels on your bare feet or the softness of a wooden floor or carpet. We don't always have to ground outside for it to affect us in positive ways.

So why practice grounding and earthing? Because it's good for you. It helps with chronic fatigue, chronic pain, anxiety and depression, sleep disorders, cardiovascular disease, and so much more. I remember one snowy winter evening, while scrolling through Facebook, I came across a post that challenged anyone who dared to step outside and put their bare feet in the snow and then post a picture. I thought this was a crazy idea at first. After all, it was a very cold night, and I was comfortable inside with my candles lit. But, I was up for the challenge. So, there I went, barefoot into the snow. I only stayed for a few seconds as it was freezing. When I came back inside and my feet started to adjust to the warm room, I felt a calm come over me, and my feet felt like they had just been massaged in a warm blanket. It was an incredible feeling, and I've done it several times since.

Grounding and earthing requires little effort, but it has lasting effects. Next time you feel disconnected to the earth, take your shoes off and allow your bare feet to bring you back to the ground.

Love and Peace,

Skylark
