Buona Primavera!

SKYLARK'S ARTICLE OF THE WEEK - BUONA PRIMAVERA!

Soon, we will be seeing trees pop with color. It's almost Cherry Blossom season. Spring has arrived. Buona Primavera!

The sun is so much brighter. It's Daylight Savings Time. It's still chilly though. I love the sunsets we've been having. The moon has been strutting her stuff, too. I especially love the early morning when the world is quiet, and the sky is azure blue. You can hear the birds coming to life as the sun rises to begin a new day. Dusk and dawn and everything in between. It's Springtime.

Some of the green leaves in my garden are beginning to peak through the soil. After such a harsh winter, it's a welcome sight. The streets are cleaner and grass is getting greener. Soon, I'll be picking flowers from my garden. I planted tulip bulbs last fall. I love the change of seasons.

I was asking myself recently, what is the point of winter? Someone told me that if we didn't have winter, we wouldn't have apples and other fruits. Winter prepares the soil for crops. Without this cold season, we wouldn't have the lush landscape Spring brings. Now I understand.

Spring is a season of renewal and personal growth. It's a time of new beginnings and self-discovery. We have the opportunity in a new season to re-calibrate and take stock of where we are. We change as the seasons do. I think when you meet a new love interest, you should date for a year through each season before making any big decision about them. We are different in different seasons.

The official first day of spring was March 20th. The Vernal Equinox. The sun is straight above us with equal hours of light and dark. That will set you straight.

Buona Primavera. Happy Spring!

Peace and Love,

Skylark

At 60 and Beyond, one of my favorite things to do in Spring is cut fresh flowers from my garden. I would love a garden like this.

SKYLARK'S PICK OF THE WEEK

Starting off the Spring season this coming Saturday, March 28th, The Allmost Brothers Band will be performing at Dox in Island Park. They take the stage at 7:00pm. Dox is located at 10 Broadway, Island Park, NY 11558.

The Allmost Brothers Band is a progressive tribute act honoring the tradition of the legendary Allman Brothers Band. Working within the framework of the incredible and vast song book of the ABB, The Allmost Brothers inject something new, fresh and exciting into the material. In a matter of words: high level musicianship, authentic improvisational interplay, dedication to the high octane performance, and power that established the original ABB back in 1969 and sustained their 45 year career.

The Allmost Brothers Band are: Sean McGrath, and Dave Filloramo on lead guitars, Joe Wasserman on Vocals & Keys, Dave Losee and Dan Roth on Drums, and Tom Hooker on the Bass. Plug...Dan Roth is married to my cousin, Kathleen DiResta. True story.

This band of brothers truly thrives on chemistry and improvisation bringing a unique fire every night to the song book of the ABB. Check out www.theallmostbrothersband.com for more information and updates.

SKYLARK'S HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK

The highlight of the week is seeing the grass growing greener and the earth preparing for Spring. Just a few short weeks ago, we were shoveling snow. Now, we're getting ready to prepare our gardens. I can't wait to dig my hands in the soil.

SKYLARK'S INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE OF THE WEEK

SKYLARK'S PRAYER OF THE WEEK

Dear God,

As Spring emerges, allow the natural flow of life to inspire us to be kinder, gentler, and more patient and considerate of others. Amen.

SKYLARK'S QUESTION OF THE WEEK

What changes do you notice about yourself in Spring?

Please put your answer under the Comment section under this post. I'd love to hear from you.

SKYLARK'S ITALIAN PHRASE OF THE WEEK

English: Why should I have Spring fever?

Italian: Perché dovrei avere la febbre primaverile.

SKYLARK'S INTERIOR DECORATING TIP OF THE WEEK

Don't be afraid to go extreme with Chinoiserie. This is a beautiful, exotic style in interior design and has stood the test of time throughout centuries. The word is the European interpretation and imitation of Chinese and other Sinosphere artistic traditions, especially the decorative arts, garden design, architecture, literature, theatre, and music. The aesthetic of chinoiserie has been expressed in different ways depending on the region. It is related to the broader current of Orientalism, which studied, Far East cultures from a historical, philological, anthropological, philosophical, and religious point of view. First appearing in the 17th century, this trend was popularized in the 18th century due to the rise in trade with China during the High Qing era and throughout the rest of East Asia.

LYRICS

I'm as restless as a willow in a windstorm
I'm as jumpy as a puppet on a string
I'd say that I had spring fever
But I know it isn't spring
I am starry-eyed and vaguely discontented
Like a nightingale without a song to sing
Oh, why should I have spring fever
When it isn't even spring?
I keep wishing I were somewhere else
Walking down a strange new street
Hearing words that I have never heard
From a girl I've yet to meet
I'm as busy as a spider spinning daydreams
I'm as giddy as a baby on a swing
I haven't seen a crocus or a rosebud or a robin on the wing
But I feel so gay in a melancholy way
That it might as well be spring
It might as well be spring
I'm as busy as a spider spinning daydreams
I'm as giddy as a baby on a swing
I haven't seen a crocus or a rosebud or a robin on the wing
But I feel so gay in a melancholy way
That it might as well be spring
Oh, it might as well be spring

MY BRAND - SKYLARK LIVE

I created my brand, Skylark Live, when I turned 60 years old and noticed a profound shift in this age. I wanted to talk about it and share what I was experiencing with the hope of helping other women as well. My brand consists of a weekly newsletter and a monthly vlog designed to motivate and inspire women over 60 to thrive in mature ageing through knowledge and self-awareness. I am open to conducting in-person conversations called The Skylark Sessions. These can be held in someone’s home or at a local library or senior center. To be continued.

Skylark Live Weekly Newsletter - My weekly newsletter, 60 and Beyond with Skylark - Living Life Inside and Outside the Home, features articles about human interest, nature, general observations, inspiration, goals, motivation, places I've been to, and ideas I want to explore. I open to ideas of what to write about, so let me know. I represent Bay Shore and towns beyond. There is also a calendar of events. I throw in Italian words, too, because I love the language and all things Italian. Bella Italia! As a subscriber, you will receive my newsletter each Wednesday morning in your email. That gives you a head's up. You can also advertise your business or event on my newsletter. Just click this link to subscribe: For updates, subscribe to our free newsletter! You can also become a paying subscriber.

Skylark Live Monthly Vlog - My first Monday-of-the month vlog is a recap of the articles I've written in my newsletter throughout the previous month. Then, I introduce a unique topic for the current month's vlog. You can find some of my vlogs on my YouTube channel. I also post them on my social media platforms.
