Love is Our Super Power

SKYLARK'S FEATURED ARTICLE OF THE WEEK - LOVE IS OUR SUPER POWER

We have the ability to change the world with love. It's our Super Power. We don't use it enough. It's time for that to change. As older adults, we have accumulated knowledge and wisdom, and we've been through enough in our lives to know how powerful love is. Love can heal. And it can change the course of someone's life. Imagine that magnified throughout the world.

Over the past few years, we've been in the depths of a world-wide pandemic that has taken a human toll on all of us. Its name is all too familiar and has become part of our everyday vernacular. We wonder if COVID will ever leave us, and if we will ever stop talking about it. I had COVD in August, and it took a month to feel "normal" again. I still have residual body aches that can be painful. I feel humbled and lucky to have survived this virus. COVID continues to kill people every day and thousands more are still getting sick from it. The death toll is staggering. More than 1M people in the United States have succumb to this foreign invader and more than 6M worldwide. That's a staggering number that's hard to comprehend. We can do better. We can love more.

Throughout the lockdown, I found myself expanding and growing in ways that I had never done before. I saw it as a time to love deeper and to tell people that I loved them. When my mother was ill with heart failure many years ago, I spent a lot of time with her. I took her to all of her doctor appointments. It was a time of acute love. She was the most compliant patient and embraced her circumstance with dignity. She was bestowed with the kind of grace that Angels possess. She loved deeply and completely. That's who I learned love from. I know how to love and how to express love because of her. I give it freely. We can all do that. It's what we must do if we are to change the course of life as we know it today. Love can win over evil. It's our Super Power. Love is patient. Love is kind. It is time to use it wisely.

Peace and Love,

Skylark

At 60 and Beyond, giving love and receiving love is one of the most precious expressions of our humanity.

SKYLARK'S SONG OF THE WEEK - WHAT THE WORLD NEEDS NOW by Burt Bacharach and Hal David (sung by Dionne Warwick)

What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some but for everyone
Lord, we don't need another mountain
There are mountains and hillsides enough to climb
There are oceans and rivers enough to cross
Enough to last 'til the end of time
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some but for everyone
Lord, we don't need another meadow
There are corn fields and wheat fields enough to grow
There are sunbeams and moonbeams enough to shine
Oh listen Lord, if You want to know
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
It's the only thing that there's just too little of
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
No, not just for some, oh, but just for every, every everyone
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
What the world needs now is love, sweet love
